Toma Luntumbue

Toma Muteba Luntumbue is an art historian, artist and independent curator born in Kinshasa, Drc Congo. He was the artistic director of the 5th and 4th Biennale de Lubumbashi, Rencontres Picha, in 2017 and 2015, Democratic republic Congo. He has also organized various important exhibitions such as "Transferts" at the BOZAR Centre for Fine Arts, Brussels (2003), "Exitcongo museum" at the Royal Museum for Central Africa in Tervuren (2000-2001). His main curatorial work is focused on memory, urban dynamics and territorial transformations in the city, the manipulation of media residues, national iconography and images in the Congolese postcolonial context. As an artist, his works have been shown internationally including at S.M.A.K. (Municipal Museum of Contemporary Art) in Ghent, MuHKA, Museum of Contemporary Art Antwerp, Marta Herford in Germany, Kunsthalle in Budapest, Hungary, Musée Boribana, Dakar, Senegal and the Migros Museum of Contemporary Art in Zurich, Switzerland. Toma Muteba Luntumbue also initiated and was the artistic director of the platform DesignfabKinshasa at in partnership with the Académie des Beaux-Arts de Kinshasa and the Centre for Fine Arts Brussels, 2014-2015. He teaches at Ecole de Recherche Graphique (ERG) and the National visual arts school La Cambre in Brussels, Belgium.
