Antonia Alampi

Antonia Alampi is curator of Extra-City in Antwerp and artistic co-director of SAVVY Contemporary in Berlin. In 2016 she initiated Future Climates with ILiana Fokianaki, a commissioning and research platform which interrogates precarity and the financial lives of small scale institutions, not simply as a condition to be examined but as a starting point for developing new practices and forms of sustenance. From 2012 to 2015 she lived in Cairo, where she was curator of Beirut and director of The Imaginary School Program (2014/2015). From 2009 to 2011 she co-directed Opera Rebis in Rome. Her writings have appeared in journals such as Art-Agenda, Ibraaz, Arte e Critica, and Flash Art International and in various publications. She has taught and given lectures in many academic and art venues in Europe and North Africa. Curatorial projects in 2017 include 76’38’’+ ∞ the first solo show of Jerome Bel at Museo Pecci in Prato; The School of Redistribution, a research program and an exhibition with works by Alexandra Pirici, Markus Miessen, Navine Khan Dossos, Alexandros Tsannis and Martha Rosler at State of Concept Athens; Let Sonorities Ring - Julius Eastman, a documentation center and listening station with live performances by Hassan Khan, Jace Clayton and Mwangi Hutter at SAVVY Contemporary in Berlin; The Law of the Pursuer, a solo-show by Amos Gitai at SAVVY Contemporary.
