The 'Material World' exhibition at the city museum presents an interesting dialogue between the art movements abstract expressionism and minimalism.

Robie Van Outryve's paintings, made in the 1970s, are at least related to abstract expressionism and the Cobra movement.

In turn, Bernard Sercu's works refer to both Mark Rothko's abstract expressionism and the formal minimalism developed afterwards.

Leyla Aydoslu's spatial (3D) works, in turn, are a contemporary, free interpretation that includes elements of both styles.
