Gertrud Sandqvist

Gertrud Sandqvist, professor in the theory and history of ideas of visual art at Malmö Art Academy, Lund University, Sweden.
1995-2007, 2011- Rector at Malmö Art Academy.

Professor Sandqvist is writing extensively on mainly Nordic and European contemporary art. 2010 she was the co-curator of the Moderna utställningen at Moderna Museet, Stockholm. She co-curated, together with Sarat Maharaj, Dorothee Albrecht and Stina Edblom The Gothenburg International biennial of Contemporary Art 2011. She curated Channeled, a show with contemporary artists and Hilma af Klint at Lunds Konsthall, Sweden, 2013, and Against Method for Generali Foundation, Vienna, 2013. Her latest major catalogue text is about artist Olav Christopher Jenssen, 2018 for Wallstein /Stiftung Niedersachesen. Currently she is researching Swedish visionary artist Hilma af Klint.
