Charlemagne Palestine

Charlemagne Palestine was born in Brooklyn Nyc and was a member of the New York avant-garde during the late sixties and seventies when he began to present and perform his works world-wide. He is known as a sound, video, performance and installation artist often merging them all to create a Gesamtkunstwerk, or total artwork. He has had recent shows at the Kunsthalle Vienna, Witte de With Rotterdam, Bozar Brussels, Jewish Museum Nyc, and been in festivals and shows worldwide including Wiels Brussels, Whitney Museum, Nyc, Louvre Paris, Triennale Milano, 356 Mission Rd Los Angeles Moderna Museet Stockholm, Stedelijk Museum Amsterdam, Documenta Kassel. He lives and works since 20 years in Brussels
