Tramaine de Senna's ever-evolving oeuvre bears witness to her intense relationship with materials and interests in subjects such as the "migration of forms," pop and material culture, internalised violence, exuberance, and the persistent ambiguous presence - "ghosts" - of history.

For the exhibition in Claessens Canvas, Tramaine de Senna makes a visual and conceptual connection between the physical manifestation of internalized violence and the formal language of some hybrid plastic toys, equating both with the grotesque and the gothic (deformed bodies that hint at tortured souls: the charred skin and radioactivity of Hiroshima and Nagasaki victims of the atomic bomb to the flame-throwing and supernatural physicality of Godzilla). In this sense, her forms are analytical and emotional - an exercise in social dissection with an oppressive formalism, enhanced by tactility, scale and a visceral use of texture and colour.
