In a traditional sense, the drawing room was a place where people came together. A room filled with furniture and art, where guests were entertained and amused, surrounded by elegance, refinement, and wealth. Transposing this to today’s society, the 16th century precursor of this term – a withdrawal room – appears even more attractive. A room where to ‘withdraw’, counterbalance the whirling pace of our current world.
In 'The Drawing Room', a selection of artists is invited to present work on paper. The drawings will enter in direct dialogue with the a-typical, intimate setting of the room: a space determined by furniture and colour, moving far away from the cold and empty white cube. The gallery space/drawing room in Knokke will be furnished by a selection made by Paulette in’t Stad.
