Opening times: Mon - Fri: 8:00 - 18:00
We are living in a time characterized by an almost indigestible information overload. It is coloured by this slight neurosis, which is awakened as a result of social media; or due to the continuous connection with, or being stalked by work. This goes hand in hand with the insecurity of employment, and a tiring economic competition. All of these are but a few symptoms of the current digital age.
But what would happen if we could freeze time?
‘Time is what happens when nothing else does’ is a group show with artists Hannelore Van Dijck, Benjamin Verhoeven, Edith Dekyndt, Max Pinckers, Jesse Cremers, and Stephen Verstraete. In a surprising dialogue, and by means of in situ interventions, these artists try answering this question. Their sensorial interferences give us a different look at the direct environment of Het Paviljoen. Abstract objects are being animated, the flag is being recycled as a contemporary vanitas, and the thoughts and presence of the observer are being contemplated.
Time is what happens when nothing else does is the second exhibition, in a series of five shows, where Het Paviljoen is treated as a 'malleable' object instead of an exhibition space.
With works from the following artists:
