For Chapter II of the exhibition cluster The Gathering Of Characters And Forms we bring together three young artists from Belgium and the Netherlands. Alice De Mont, Hedwig Houben and Benjamin Verhoeven enter into dialogue with the video installation by Hans Demeulenaere .
The four artists were chosen because they each in a specific way use sculpture and video in their practice . These two forms of expressions differ fundamentally thoroughly. Sculptures are Art Historically solid and static objects that are supposed to defy eternity. Film however, is a flicker of light, temporary and intangible . The artists in The Gathering Of Characters And Forms are aware of these contradictions and put it in an innovative and interesting way within their practice . There are no conclusive solutions shown but new opportunities and approaches to these issues . For the final chapter of this exhibition cluster the gathering plays a prominent role, not only between sculpture and video, but also between the artists and artworks in relation to the space constructed by Hans Demeulenaere .
