Today, the Royal Academy of Fine Arts in Antwerp finds itself more or less "squeezed" between 350 years of history and an unspecified number of years to come. Turning the burden of tradition into a tool for the future might be one of the biggest challenges this academy has come to cope with. Is it possible to combine the historical dimension of the art academy with the intention of becoming a laboratory for advanced artistic research ?
The publication “Contradictions” deals with the history of the Royal Antwerp Academy, while "Pro-Positions: Art and / as Education" focuses on artist-driven pedagogies and educational projects by Jef Geys, Luc Deleu, Michelangelo Pistoletto, Olafur Eliasson, Hans Ulrich Obrist, Clémentine Deliss, Raqs Media Collective and many others.
