Solo Exhibition inside a fair
SP-Arte’s 15th edition celebrates Latin American artistic production through its curated sector Solo, featuring single-artist booths selected by Chilean curator Alexia Tala.
The Solo project aims to challenge the colonizing influence that shapes Latin America’s self-recognition as a land whose "discovery" and civilizing process only began to come about through the interaction with Europe. The presentation inverts this view with the support of architecture and culture history, anthropology and ethnography, to introduce critical concepts that unite different regions of Latin America.
Artists confirmed to date include: Paraguayan Feliciano Centurión (via Walden Gallery, Argentina), Peruvians Fernando Bryce (via espaivisor, Spain) and Nicole Franchy (HISK laureate 2011) (via IK Projects, Peru), Brazilians Randolpho Lamonier (via Periscópio Arte Contemporânea, Brazil), Ayrson Heráclito(via Portas Vilaseca Galeria, Brazil), Rafael Pagatini (via OÁ Galeria - Arte Contemporânea, Brazil) and Manata Laudares (via Sé, Brazil), Chileans Maria Edwards (via Galería Patricia Ready, Chile), Sandra Vásquez de la Horra (via Bendana-Pinel Art Contemporain, France) and Alejandra Prieto (via Die Ecke Arte Contemporáneo, Chile) and Guatemalan Luis González Palma (via Galeria de Babel, Brazil).
