Sing Sing - HISK at Art Brussels 2016
At Art Brussels 2016 HISK is presenting 'Sing Sing', a karaoke stage which allows all visitors to participate, based on a programme where the HISK artists compiled a playlist of their favourite music. From time to time the songs are signed in Flemish Sign Language(*) instead of sung, mute in a performative manner. The songs are shown, interpreted and translated into images by Pascal Colasse and Graziella Falletta. The karaoke will be presented by HISK residents Jonathan Paepens and Ariane Loze. The performance of translating the chosen songs into gestures is a concept of HISK laureate Frederik Van Simaey.
