Het Paviljoen, Louis Pasteurlaan 2, 9000 Gent
Opening: 2018/12/20 18:00
Opening times: 18:00 - 23:00
STOCK gives one KASK student the chance to be paired up with an external artist in blind-date fashion. During a period of one month, the two are invited to put their heads together and work side-by-side at Het Paviljoen. At the end of the collaboration, their results will be uncovered to the public.
STOCK invited Alix De Jonge and Marie-Fleur Lefebvre to work together in December to collaboratively explore the space and each other’s artistic thinking and practice.
In an epidemic reaction towards daily realities and its position within society, Marie-Fleur Lefebvre attacks the medium painting. She unravels the canvas until it depositions itself independently from the frame like loose strings of skin.
With those fractured pieces she questions the mental and emotional values of humanity in a contemporary context.
Alix De Jonge paints on the border of looking at, and not being able to look at all. Snatching the canvas in a more hidden way she searches for this ‘unaesthetic’ borderline. She is obsessed with eyes.
For this STOCK they combine their shared interests in rupturing and colliding the medium of painting while exploring shared themes and symbolism they find in each others practices.
This exhibition will be opening on the 20th of December at 18h.
