LA GIARINA ARTE CONTEMPORANEA, Verona
After the collective exhibition, “Work in Progress”, the gallery La Giarina takes the discussionon the relation between individual and environment forward with a personal show by the Israeli artist Assaf Gruber.
The exhibition, from the symbolic title “Privacy”, wants to turn the attention on the intimate and personal relation within its own context, identifying the space not as a physical place as it is but rather as a private identity reality and rich latency that joins the single to the society.
Gruber in this sense accompanies us on a journey of discovering the individual starting with the opera (Home Alone) that reveals a fragile but copious intimate human substance in which one finds traces in episodes of different senses than that in the other works on display, they investigate the solitude (Orly), the complexity of the experiences between society and individual (Kikar Atarim) and the violence in relations at the external context (Match Point, Manu and Dougie).
All together they bring one to the identification of a anthropological map as much universal as private, in which isolation, psychological tension, uncertainty, action and social ties characterize the distance of growth of the modern man, that man undressed by Gruber of its own convictions, is left free to live the flow of its own emotions and the situations life puts it in.
In his first Italian personal show the artist collects the more intriguing phases of his research, in which different media (photography, video, installations) are utilized to concentrate and express the complexity of contemporary time, giving life to an image as much homogenous as fragmented and rich in stratifications, and in which the sense of temporal and physical change introduced by the works displayed in Work in Progress it finds itself under a form of approach to focus on fascinating objective nature even if extremely evasive and hidden.
