SInt-Baafskathedraal, Sint-Baafsplein, 9000 Gent (BE)
In our virtual world there are not so many things that remind us about frailty of this earthly life. What Eden or, rather impossibility to get back to Eden, all those flower prints so often used in design of domestic textile remind of in our post-digital era? And wasn`t the organizer of first floralies in Gent and others numerous flower festival around the world plunged in the same thoughts? Using such textile in my works, giving it shape of architecture elements of the past, I try to return this idyllic but vaguely confusing flower motif to where it takes its origin – in Church. What does it disguise in the modern times when death is expelled from our daily routine and the modern flock attend IKEA more frequently than a temple?
