“The exhibition Orbweavers aims to capture a sense of how desire can be conveyed through storytelling, but also remains obscure and unknowable. In ‘Orbweavers’, there’s a strong tide of seduction in the included works but also possible entrapment, reminiscent of the lyrics in Leonard Cohen’s song, “So Long Marianne”: “I’m standing on your ledge and your fine spider web is fastening my ankle to a stone.” K. Adelaide.
A three person show curated by Kari Adalaide with works by artists represented by the Belgian gallery Jan Dhaese (Ghent): Emerald Rose Whipple’s skillful oil paintings depicting youth culture and lush landscapes, Max Razdow’s mystical and phantasmagorical ink drawings on paper and painting on fabric, and Hedwig Brouckaert’s de-compositions of mass media imagery on paper and on commercial tiles.
