Julia Höner (*1975) lives near Cologne and has a degree in Cultural Studies and Aesthetics from Hildesheim University in Germany and an MA in Curating from Goldsmiths College in London. Since 2003 she has realized freelance exhibition projects (in London, Périgueux and Cologne). She worked as assistant Curator for the Lenbachhaus in Munich between September 2004 and February 2006 where she curated the exhibition “Fouad Elkoury – Photographs and Films” as well as co-curated (together with Susanne Gaensheimer) “Favoriten – Neue Kunst in München” and “Bühne des Lebens – Rhetorik des Gefühls”. In 2006 and 2007 she worked in the curatorial team of the European Kunsthalle in Cologne. She co-curated (together with Nicolaus Schafhausen and Vanessa Joan Müller) the European Kunsthalle’s first exhibition “Models for Tomorrow: Cologne” and edited the research book “Under Construction”. In 2008 she became project director and curator of Düsseldorf based KAI 10 | Raum für Kunst, an institutional platform run by private Arthena Foundation. In KAI 10 she has curated the group show “Reflexion and Empathy” (2012) and worked as external tutor in University of Cologne’s art history department (2011). From 2010 onward she has been working as external curator for Generali Deutschland’s exhibition space “EG Null – Raum für junge Kunst” in Cologne. She published texts on contemporary art and artists for several art institutions (including the Lenbachhaus Munich, Frankfurter Kunstverein, KAI 10, Kunstmuseum Bonn - Videonale), and essays for exhibition catalogues (amongst others on artists Michael Sailstorfer, Clemens Krauss, Nicolas Pelzer).
