Each year, the HISK Higher Institute for Fine Arts is invited by Art Brussels to stage the HISK Café and conceive a special artistic project to give visitors the opportunity to become acquainted with the HISK artists and their work in a responsive way.
For Art Brussels 2015, HISK is introducing a menu that represents their twenty-six current residents. The menu serves as a catalogue that will be distributed to visitors. From this menu, guests will be able to select a work of art by one of these artists. When chosen, the work selected will be unveiled and/or presented. The idea is to create a ‘one-on-one’ situation between the customer and the requested artist. When not selected, the works remain hidden. The works might be in the form of a photograph, an object, a film, a conversation, a performance, and so on.
This year’s HISK participants in the Art Brussels HISK Café are:
Loukia Alavanou (GR, b. 1979) / Leyla Aydoslu (DE, b. 1987) / Flurin Bisig (CH, b. 1982) / Laure Cottin Stefanelli (FR, b. 1985) / Raffaella Crispino (IT, b. 1979) / Lydia Debeer (BE, b. 1992) / Tramaine de Senna (USA) / Indrikis Gelzis (LV, b. 1988) / Minja Gu (KR, b. 1977) / Alejandra Hernández (CO, b. 1989) / Lien Hüwels (BE, b. 1988) / Jóhanna Kristbjörg Sigurðardóttir (IS, b. 1982) / Marie-Fleur Lefebvre (FR, b. 1982) / Ella Littwitz (IL/DE, b. 1982) / Almudena Lobera (ES, b. 1984) / Oleg Matrokhin (RU, b. 1976) / Pedro Moraes (BR, b. 1985) / Joke Raes (BE, b. 1983) / Jura Shust (BY, b. 1983) / Diana Tamane (LV, b. 1986) / Anne Van Boxelaere (BE, b. 1983) / Emmanuel Van der Auwera (BE, b. 1982) / Klaas Vanhee (BE, b. 1982) / Egon Van Herreweghe (BE, b. 1985) / Benjamin Verhoeven (BE, b. 1990) / Wieske Wester (NL, b. 1985)
