BRUTHAUS is pleased to announce Gap Fillers, the first solo exhibition from Joachim Coucke at the gallery.
Please take in mind that:
Blue is the richest color for me. I can see all of blue, Marc Zucherberg (co-founder and CEO of Facebook).
A gap: a clothing brand
something to mind
the distance between the self and the desired
something on the outside. Because you can’t connect to yourself (thanks Facebook)
A filler: a mass (more in quantity than quality)
what’s there to fill: The cavity of the eyes? A text balloon?
Gap Fillers are part of conversations. For example by call center operators, when the conversation between the operator and the costumer falls apart, the silence needs to be filled. Therefore these operators have a set of words and sentences — most of them meaningless — to overcome these awkward moments.
Maybe Gap Fillers is about the unspoken. Decontextualized or/and recontextualized bits and pieces. With a certain speed and flow we go from one screen to another, from one context to another, all linked by a global network. A 24/7 growing sea of information.
I saw an image yesterday, which stated Google can’t answer all of your questions. Guess this might sound scary to some of you…What’s a chameleon doing with a spindle full of spaghetti on it’s back?
One can recognize a true friend when a gap in the conversation doesn’t mean the end of it. But let’s stay optimistic and toast on real friends. And remember:
The Internet is for everybody who doesn’t live in New York City, Nam June Paik.
