'Co-mu-mi-fication' / 2004
Video-installation and performance – two monitors, video mix table, web camera, video recorder and duck tape.
The space looks empty. There’s a television screen standing on the floor. Another screen is installed in front of the shuttered window of the exhibition space, leaving just an opening for the visitors to get, trough the image on screen, an idea of what they will meet inside. The screen inside and the one before the window show exactly the same image. On the left side of the screen is a pre-recorded image of the space, with a wrestling couple. The right half of the screen shows a real time image of the spectators in the space at that same moment. The (absent) performers and (present) performers are both visible in the same image. This image seems to entail a certain form of interaction. However since there is only a virtual bond between both performer and spectator, no intervention/ interference is possible.
