BRDG project presents its 29th intervention / presenteert de 29ste interventie
Invited artist / Uitgenodigde kunstenares:
Katrin Kamrau's work SPEKTRUM*object21(diptych) is based on two images used in different schematic representation of color charts in Kodak's The Joy of Photography(1). In 1992 this photo technique book was released under the title Fotograferen voor iedereen in Dutch language (2).
In her installation for BRDG the artist turnes this images into a physical experience for the visitors. She questions to what extent the combination of text and image, the used motif as well as the scheme‘s construction can be read as an expression of a Western normative way of thinking by the people involved in the production of this publication. It is precisely through the process of creation and translation that shots are falsified and modified with an eye to the background of the viewers being addressed. An image defined as normal is a created construct and hence does not exist as a state of being.
